Woah that actually looks pretty cool. Would definitely like to try it once it gets built up some more. But hopefully Nintendo doesn't catch wind of it, else they'll probably want to shut it down.

Re: Gaming news Thread
While my initial thought was, "Holy fuck, Nintendo has gone from making tiny steps forward in terms of technological advancement to full-on backwards", I saw the price point was gonna be a much more reasonable $130 and still it plays 3DS games without any other restriction other than it doesn't do 3D.
I still don't buy their whole "we wanted 5 year olds to play games so we made this system" thing, but it's more appealing to me just because of the lower price. Still probably won't get one (make it something like $100 and then we'll talk) but it's nice that there's a much cheaper alternative to people who don't give a fuck about 3D.

It almost looks like one of those LeapFrog toys with all the Disney's Carsâ„¢ or Spongebobâ„¢ themed game cartridges that teach you how to spell math problems.
Re: Gaming news Thread
Look at the Game Boy Micro, same reasoning more o less, but look how well that sold. Same fate with this one, plus the lack of hinges really set this back from being portable, since it's now forever prone to scratches and damages from always being openMaffi wrote:While my initial thought was, "Holy fuck, Nintendo has gone from making tiny steps forward in terms of technological advancement to full-on backwards", I saw the price point was gonna be a much more reasonable $130 and still it plays 3DS games without any other restriction other than it doesn't do 3D.

Re: Gaming news Thread
Gonna copy and paste this for all of you with a Steam account.
Also, here's the trailer:Sang-Froid - Tales of Werewolves is on sale for only $5.10 until September 2nd so all of you had better buy it. This is an incredibly fun and original action-strategy game where you play as one of two brothers defending your home in nineteenth century lower-Canada from werewolves and other monsters sent by the Devil to take your possessed sister.
In Sang-Froid the monsters are tougher then you, meaning you'll have to rely on skill, wit, careful planning, and timing to fend them off. During the day you'll set up traps, bait, ziplines and more on your homestead in preparation for the coming hoarde. At night, armed with an axe and a ball-and-powder rifle, you'll have to rely on what you set up during the day to take on the waves of monsters sent by The Devil before they destroy your home, farm, etc. Better traps can be bought with money, which you'll gain from selling the pelts of the beasts you kill. You'll also be able to purchase new items, better weapons, potion-like alcoholic beverages, and more in the town of Wolvesvale. Completeing 'nights' also grants you experience, which you'll use to gain skills that give bonuses to your character and traps.
Sang-Froid uses a number of inventive gameplay mechanics that help you take on your foes or force you to construct your strategy carefully. These, as well as new traps, new enemies, and new items, are introduced at a steady rate that never lets you feel bored or overwhelmed. This also isn't one of those games that forces you to play five levels before the plot moves forward. Stuff is always happening.
Speaking of which, Sang-Froid has a fantastic story that feels like a classic fable from the era of Paul Bunyan and John Henry, the kind you would find in a great big book filled with others like it. The soundtrack, mostly comprised of Canadian folk-instrumentals, is amazing, perfectly accenting the gameplay and atmosphere. Graphically the game is nothing you would see in a AAA game, but outstanding considering the size of the team. Overall this is far from a Pixar film, but the environment, enemies, and animations are fantastic while everything else is more than competent. The game is told mostly through dialogue-oriented 'cutscenes', mostly involving characters standing around talking to eachother. There are also occasional, more traditional 'cutscenes' using artwork and limited animation. Both work excellently in telling the story. Voice-acting ranges from very good to somewhat awkward.
This is a Game with a capital G, and to call it 'indie' is an insult to how good it is. The devs put love into Sang-Froid and it shows in everything from the story to the UI. To turn down a game of this much high-quality content at such a low price should be a sin. So go buy it. Now.

Re: Gaming news Thread
I hope it keeps growing so it can pass 2.5 Million so we can get a console release as well.
Re: Gaming news Thread
Already at 1 Million now it needs 1.5 Million more to make console release and I am happy to say this is the first kickstarter I ever backed.
