Plushies are cool, and honestly that one in particular in that link looks pretty rad (personally I'd prefer an Octavia one but you know). But $2,000 rad?? Like, SERIOUSLY????

Don't judge how people spend their money. This is exactly how a free market works. Low supply = high demand which raises price.

I am an economist, and I know how supply and demand work, but that doesn't mean I can't judge how people spend their money. What I'm saying is, people care too damn much about this shit, it's getting out of hand.

People have spent more money on less expensive things.

And just because one or a few people are willing to pay so much for a plushie doesn't mean the entire fandom is. You can't paint a whole culture by just looking at a few people.

There were 12 bids of over $1,000 (with $1,000 already being an extremely exorbitant amount). To me, it just represents people with way too much money to spend and that annoys my egalitarian sensibilities.

And of course I'm not saying the entire fandom is going to spend hundreds of dollars on a plushie. I've been around too long and I know better. I'm just venting.
